Our Learning Support department incorporates a range of specialised mechanisms to assist our students and staff. our focus is practical, determined and caring - we want to help our students to be the best they can and to feel good about their achievements. Our support includes:
Our Reading Discovery support focuses on assisting students with identified needs in the area of reading and general literacy. Through the provision of intensive group work students are given support in the development of key decoding and interpretive skills that they can then apply within the classroom and at home. Identification of students to participate in this programme occurs as a result of sound assessment processes.
The Navigators programme supports students with identified learning or behavioural difficulties. Programmes of support are invariably provided within the classroom environment to assist students in their learning. The programmes of support are designed to meet each individual students needs and are planned by way of a team approach including the classroom teacher, the learning support team, parents andother involved parties where appropriate. Our intention is to assist all our students in being 'better than before', some students benefit from an extra boost along the way. Our Navigators programme provides that extra boost.
