Secondary school provision with a strong focus on core curriculum, creative and diverse learning opportunities, work ethics, self management and organisation. DBIS's latest venture offers an excellent international secondary schooling option.
This year marks the launch of our Discovery Bay International School Secondary School. The provision of secondary schooling has been established in direct response to community need and builds on the quality Kindergarten and Primary schooling currently provided at DBIS.
Our establishment year will include two Year Seven classes, boasting low teacher student ratios. Our Secondary School staff is made up of internationally recruited secondary teachers with specialist qualifications in English literature, the arts and the sciences. Our secondary students are assigned to a home class where certain core subjects will be taught. As well as home class subject lessons students will attend specialist lessons for English, science, physical education, music and drama studies, ICT and foreign language studies.
Along with experienced and qualified classroom teachers and specialist staff, Education Assistant provision in place along with access to learning support mechanisms and counseling services.
Planning and development is now underway for a major building project that will see our new secondary school campus opening for the 2010 school year. Our new secondary school will continue to provide quality learning opportunities within a purpose built facility and superb campus, further catering for the secondary needs of students within Discovery Bay.
