A week in the life of DBIS
I hope everyone enjoyed last week’s half term holiday and also took advantage of the School’s professional development day for staff.
Teachers and educational assistants certainly benefited from working collaboratively across the school with a focus on developing differentiated questioning techniques for use in lessons. I was certainly impressed with the level of professional dialogue and its potential impact upon students in the Early Years, Primary and Secondary sections of the School. I would like to thank Helen Kavanagh, School Development Leader, and her team for leading the day’s training.
This week the School hosted a preparatory evaluation visit by representatives from the Council of International Schools. The purpose of the visit was to determine the School's readiness to undertake the Self-Study stage of the CIS accreditation process and to clarify the requirement of the process to the school community. During the visit, the evaluators examined the school’s documentation, observed lessons and met with several representatives of the school community. We are now looking forward to receiving the visitor's written comments later in the term.
Finally, thank you to all the parents who responded to the recent Community Survey. A summary of the survey’s major themes and the statistical data for each question can be found at the following link. I was certainly pleased with the survey’s positive and constructive feedback as this will help the school in further strengthening how we support the children's learning and development.
Best wishes for the weekend ahead.
