Year 9 News
A very Happy New Year to all of our Year 9 students, parents and guardians.
It was fantastic to see the students return from their holidays last week refreshed and ready for the challenges ahead in term 2. Already they have explored in great depth the concept of international mindedness in lessons throughout week one, tackling global issues from world malnutrition to third culture identification. Josefine Bechgaard Lisse, Tyler Ikeda and Samantha Hudgins composed very impressive poems focused on the latter topic and thought provoked the entire Secondary School in assembly with their compositions.
The second term of the year will be just as fast and frenetic as the first, with the International Schools Theatre Association (ISTA) Middle School Drama Festival no doubt going to be a particular highlight. In addition the school production of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is now well into rehearsals and involves a huge number of Year 9 students. Keeping up to date with academic work whilst undertaking such extra curricular commitments is always a delicate balance but I have been very pleased to see just how well the Year 9 students cope with the demands on their time.
Next week another round of Year 9 short reports will be released, and we will be following up on those in the coming weeks to ensure all students are on track with regard to academic targets set at the start of the year. Once again I wish you all a most Happy 2017.
