This week has been a challenging one for all members of the Secondary School.
Following the tragic loss of Mr O’Reilly last weekend, students and staff have been mourning a much loved member of the school community. Mr O’Reilly will be remembered as a teacher, colleague and friend who always had a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone that he met.
While the loss has been great, I have taken heart this week in the strength of our school. The support that has been offered to each other has been amazing and reflects the character of both our staff and students. I have been particularly proud of the way our students have been respectful of their teachers who have lost a friend.
Counselling will continue to be made available should students feel they need to reach out and talk. Students should speak to their tutor in the first instance who will then help make the arrangements to meet the counsellor.
In regards to the teaching of mathematics, we are currently pursuing options to ensure we have a high quality teacher that is able to continue Mr O’Reilly’s excellent work. I will contact you with further details once an appointment has been made.
I would like to thank the many of you that have reached out and offered your support during the week, your thoughts are much appreciated.
