What's Been Happening in Year 5

Primary Year 5

As you all know, from the energy and excitement around the school, last week was Book Week and what a spectacular week it was!

Last week's timetable was full to the brim with reading related activities for the children to sink their teeth into and celebrate all things book related. From the Book Look, the Book Week Kahoot quiz, buddy reading, creating book related maths word problems, the cross-school Build-a-Book activity, renegade reading, Recycle-a-Read, the character dress-up day, author visits, family picnic and the Book domino extravaganza, the week was a huge success and most importantly; the children had fun reading!

With Book Week now over and assessment week concluding, our IPC Space Explorers topic now kicks back into gear as we continue to discuss and speculate what it would take to establish a human population on Mars. The children's recent experience inside the visiting Discovery Dome was more than enough to spark their curiosity and keen interest in learning about what it takes to become the next Elon Musk (from Space X) and broaden our horizons beyond Earth.
