A week in the life of DBIS

Head of School

Tonight’s Secondary School’s Drama production, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” promises to be an outstanding event.

Members of the cast, band and crew have produced an exceptional show. Everyone involved has worked incredibly hard to create what promises to be a stunning production. Thank you to the our secondary students, staff and parents for all their hard work.
This week Year 6 students have been enjoying a week of culture, action, and challenge during their camp in China. Reports from our primary staff suggest that all involved have had a fantastic experience. Additionally, Year 11 students stated their (I)GCSE examinations this week with exams in Visual Art and Mathematics having taken place already. I know you will want to join me in wishing Year 11 all the very best during this critical time.
The deadline for the school’s Scholarship programme has now passed. Thank you to all the parents who have submitted scholarship applications. We received over 40 applications, and the awarding committee will now take some time to consider the supporting information before making a final decision.  I will make you aware of the outcome in due course.
It is with great sadness that the school was made aware that Nurse May Chan died last week in Vancouver. Nurse May was the school nurse at DBIS from 2002 to 2007. Nurse May was a highly respected member of the school community, and all who knew her will remember her as a warm, committed and supportive member of the DBIS community. Our thoughts at this time are with May’s family.
Best wishes for the long weekend ahead and I look forward to welcoming students and staff back to school on Thursday, May 4.
