What's Been Happening in Year 3

Primary Year 3

And just like that it is Term 2! Welcome back everyone!

Those smiling and eager faces on Monday morning were a positive sign that this is going to be yet another exciting and rewarding term. We have also been very excited to welcome five new faces to Year 3. All of our new students have settled into their new classes remarkably well and everyone has given them a very warm DBIS welcome!

In writing we have begun to explore scripts. We have discussed the scuccess criteria of scriptwring and created a toolkit we can refer back to when it comes to writing outr own script for our show later in the term.

In reading we are revisitng inferencing – ‘reading between the lines’. This is a very important reading skill and one that we will revisit continuously through out the year.

In maths we have started a unit on shape, starting with 2D and 3D shapes and their properties. Identifying shapes and knowing their properties might help us later in the term when we come to design our set.

There are only 5 1/2 weeks to go until show time! We are now in the planning phase of our production and excitement is high. We are delighted with the innovative ideas and enthusiasm we are seeing already. Through out our show preparation we will be doing a Discovery Unit on Light and Sound and how we can use them for dramatic effect. Remember to check out seesaw for a window into all of our learning.
