What's Been Happening in Year 3
It’s exciting times in Year 3 with the show continuing to take shape and evolve.
This week has seen big developments in all scenes with lots of reflecting taking place. This has ensured necessary improvements and changes to dance, acting, music, staging and lighting can take place. The first full run throughs have also taken place. This has been most enjoyable as it has given the students the opportunity to view each other’s scenes and provide feedback.
As you will know, we have built on the different approach that was adopted last year with how a Year 3 Show is produced. As a team we reflected on what skills, experiences and memories we wanted our students to take away from a show and then be able to transfer to other learning opportunities - both this year and beyond. We certainly feel this is being achieved again this year.
The students are very excited to be performing ‘I Wonder - A Light and Sound Extravaganza’ to you and whilst you are watching it, please do take the time to fully appreciate the roles they have undertaken to bring their hard work to the stage. These have included - developing their ideas and structure for the show; building characters and writing a script; selecting lighting sequences; programming and using various types of technology; developing and practising dance sequences; composing music and singing songs; developing acting and voice projection; promoting the show itself by producing the tickets and the programme. The skills developed throughout this journey are immense and the students are constantly impressing us at every stage.
As you will now be aware, the Year 3 Show Dress Rehearsals and Performance will be moved to after Chinese New Year. We will notify you in due course of the new date.
Happy Chinese New Year! Kung Hei Fat Choy!
