What's going on in Reception - Safari?
Friday 3 September
Welcome to Amelia, her daddy and her twin aunties whom returned from their summer holiday on Thursday 2 September. Amelia’s mummy and her new baby will return to Hong Kong on Monday 6 September. We know Amelia and her family will be welcomed by our Safari Reception family.
We have had another super week 30.08.10 – 03.09.10 in Safari Reception. The children are more confident with Reception class rules, routine, specialist lessons and they coped extremely well with the lunch routine. Thank you for providing a wonderful healthy lunch for your child.
During the week 30.08.10 – 03.09.10 the children enjoyed looking at photographs of their friends families and asking many Who, What, Where and How questions about their family. The children looked carefully at their family photograph and tried to make their own family drawing. They continue to enjoy the morning self registration and the many varied table top activities; playdough, construction, imaginative play, measuring the length of snakes using coloured links and recognizing numbers. Don’t forget to view the lovely photographs of your children at work in safari Reception.
Thank you for your support in providing your family photographs and returning the Family and Friends question sheet, they were extremely helpful. Some children brought stories from home which has enhanced our Family and Friends unit, thank you. If you have any stories related to the unit focus listed below please bring them to school on the day your child has Show ‘n Tell of that week:
Week 06.09.10 Friends, 13.09.10 Feelings and community, 20.09.10 Houses, 27.09.10 Baby photograph and a Flag from the country where your child was born, 04.10.10 Your child’s favourite food.
Next week 06.09.10 we will introduce our full day program 08.55am – 14.40pm. Please make sure your child is in bed at a reasonable hour because if they are tired they may find the first week of full time a challenge. It is also important the lunch content provides the energy to cope with the physical and mental expectations of a full day.
