What's going on in Secondary Design Technology?

Throughout term 2 all KS3 students have been working on  topics relating to the space around school. They have been developing their sketching skills and learning to analyse and design for the space around them.

Year 8 have just launched into a graphic design project. They will be learning to use different design programmes to aid their graphics work. They are currently learning about font and typography.

Year 9 are well into their Graphic Design module. They wil be developing their photoshop skills to produce E-Flyers, which will be accessed via the internet, to give information about our new Secondary School building. Currently in the research and development stage they are looking at the use of colour within graphics.

At the start of Term 2 the winners of last term's Hat Design competition were lucky enough to go on a trip to the Gore headquarters in Hong Kong. Here they experienced first hand insight into the design process behind many popular outdoor wear products and looked in detail at the properties of some of the textiles and polymer materials they are made from. The pictures above show these students experiencing the 'rain room' used to test  the water resistance of the products.
