A huge congratulations to all students involved in our very first Secondary production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', which was an outstanding success.
What's going on in Secondary Drama?
A huge thankyou to everyone who came to support Drama at DBIS by coming to watch our production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' on April 19 and 20. I was so impressed by the professionalism, focus and commitment of the cast; they deserve to be extremely proud of their performances. A huge well done to everyone involved in the show.
Key Stage 3 Drama lessons continue to be busy and exciting. Year 7 are in the process of performing their original character monologues which is their final assessment for their 'Titanic' unit. Year 8 are exploring the story of Rosa Parks and the Montgomery Bus Boycott with a focus on how we can use drama strategies to enhance works of Drama, while Year 9 are about to complete their characterisation 'hot seating' assessments.
We are extremely excited about the development of a Blackbox Theatre at DBIS, set to be ready for Term One of next year. This will be a professional studio for Secondary Drama lessons, as well a great performance space for smaller ensemble pieces.
