At the end of Year 9, students have the option of continuing their studies into Year 10 and beyond and may opt to take a GCSE in the subject.

Students focus on communicative ability. The objective of the course this academic year is for students to be able to understand and respond to simple phrases in French, hold a short conversation in French, write 4-5 simple sentences in French and read and understand a short simple passage. This term, students  learn about different French festivals such as Saints' Days and Mardi Gras. At the end of the unit, students will prepare and present their second oral presentation in French. Bonne chance!

Year 8

Students are studying the topic of School Life, and will be contrasting the life of an international school student versus that of a French secondary school student in France. They will be discussing the pros and cons of school uniform, school clubs, school rules and facilities, the role of technology and the internet at school, and school subjects and options choices-all issues that are close to their hearts! We will also cover Reflexive verbs so that they will be able to give an account of a typical day, during the week and at the weekend! Students should aim to be at a Level 5, provided thayt they can use 2 different verb tenses actively, as well as expressing personal opinions and seeking information from others.
