Physical Education at DBIS follows the UK National Curriculum. We are fortunate to have a wealth of teaching experience in our team. We offer students a broad range of indoor and outdoor games which enhance physical, moral and social well being. Activities provide mental challenges of decision making skills, students are encouraged to answer practical challenges and problems and explore and review their ideas, strategies and tactics. Students are given opportunities to work individually, in teams and as leaders, supporters, coaches and officials.
All lessons challenge the fitness of students, be it a discrete fitness activity or through competitive play or performance. Students learn to assess risks and to respond to potential hazards appropriately. Personal best improvement is at the heart of student learning and assessment.
We are proud to promote life long participation in physical activity. We foster creativity in all activities and always reward good sportsmanship and collaboration. Our curriculum work is extended through a varied programme of extra curricular training and sport offered by our talented DBIS teaching staff. We enjoy links with community clubs and organisations, forging pathways to participation beyond the school and sharing the expertise of local sports personnel.
