What's going on in Nursery - Sunflower?

Dear Parents

The Olympic entry point was a great morning. Thank you to all parents who supported their child, your help was appreciated on the walk to the primary campus and throughout the presentation of the flame and the entertainment.

The best way to end such a wonderful topic will be to hold a traditional Ancient Greek Olympics. It will take place on Friday 18 May from 9:20-11:30am. Parents are not required to attend.

The students will also have the opportunity to have their face painted. If your child has an allergy to face paints please let us know.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Friday the 18^th of May will be Sunflowers parent conferences. If you have not signed up please have a look at the sign-up sheet on our notice board.

Water Play

As you can see from the photographs many of our students are particularly interested in water play activities.  Whilst having lots of fun with friends the children have been exploring capacity, pouring, cleaning, colour mixing, drawing, writing, the list is endless.  However, this means that your child's clothing may become rather wet during play.  Please ensure that there is a spare uniform in your child’s bag and return borrowed clothes back to school as soon as possible.

RWI 

We have now begun our phonics programme, RWI.  We have introduced the children to Fred the frog, who helps us to sound out words and we have learnt some of the strategies that are used throughout the whole programme; why not ask your child about my turn, your turn.  During the rest of the term the children will be introduced to a 'sound a week', which will be displayed on the noticeboard and we begin with 'm’, just in time for Mother's Day.  The phonics lessons are short and fun and it is a very exciting time for our students as this is the first step in becoming eager 'real readers'.
