What's going on in Secondary English?

Year 7 have begun their unit in autobiography as we all get to know each other better.  This week they have produced some outstanding book jackets for their own autobiographies, creating some amazing titles that sum up them and their hobbies. They've also started reading 'Boy' by Roald Dahl and are enjoying reading his tales of wicked teachers and bad behaviour!

Year 8 are studying the genre of detective fiction and are learning all about what makes a great detective story whilst beginning to plan their own. They are also reading a variety of different detective stories including those featuring Sherlock Holmes, Miss Marple and other super sleuths.

Year 9 are studying a media unit on magazines and non-fiction and are closely analysing the language used in magazines for different audiences. They will then move on the explore the 21st Century phenomenon that is reality television.
