Physical education plays an important role in promoting the physical, social and emotional growth and development of our students.
Physical education is viewed as one of our core subjects. Regular physical education learning plays an important role in promoting the physical, social and emotional growth and development of our students. During our lessons students have many opportunities to be active, learn new skills, solve problems, address physical challenges, function as part of a group, take on various roles of responsibility and express themselves in a range of situations. We aim for students to develop skills that they may apply in a variety of contexts within and beyond the school setting.
We promote the importance of fair play, cooperative behaviours and the ability to work independently and function as part of a group or team. These are critical life skills.
Our students are encouraged to be involved in lifelong physical activity. Throughout our physical education lessons, students are introduced to activities and exercise for fitness, leisure and recreation and the short and long term benefits of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle. We hope that students will be able to recognise the physical and social advantages of being active and will continue these practices into adulthood.
We have a dynamic team of teachers who work to ensure each student's needs are met and that opportunities are provided for extension and diversification.
Our facilities allow for dry and wet weather activity with the provision of exterior pitch and court spaces, undercover activity areas and a fully equipped indoor gymnasium.
