 Welcome to our library

This is a very special year for us as we move into our new library within the Discovery Centre.  Our library is an extremely special part of our school - a place for students and staff to read for pleasure, investigate and research to support their learning, extend their library and study skills and communicate with others.  Please help us to maintain our high standards so that everyone can enjoy this very special resource.

Our library  plays a central role in the life of the whole school community, providing services for our students, staff and parents. Our Kindergarten has a separate library facility providing for the specific needs of our early childhood students.  Our Primary and Secondary students use our new library facility.  Secondary students have access to all Primary resources along with a range of resources located in the Secondary School section for their exclusive use.  We aim to support the curricula of all subjects taught at the school from Kindergarten through to Secondary School through the provision of a wide range of materials in a variety of media and technologies.  We also endeavour to promote intercultural awareness through the provision of materials reflecting a variety of cultures and languages. This is achieved by way of our increasing bilingual selection and EAL support material.

Students are taught to become lifelong learners by focusing on information literacy skills and investigative processes, this is achieved through weekly visits to the library for all classes. Hand in hand with the development of information literacy and investigative skills is the need for our students to develop a lifelong love of reading.  We strongly believe this contributes to  our student’s personal, social and educational growth.

Our library is open before and after school for homework study and for resource borrowing.
