Dear Parents
International Food Fair: Our energetic Food Fair Committee had their first meeting today to share out the related responsibilities and begin organising for our special community day on Saturday 3 December. You will be hearing more from our committee in the coming weeks. Please remember that the sole focus of our DBIS International Food Fair is bringing our school community together for a wonderful family day of fun, food, entertainment and a little bit of special shopping.
Congratulations!!: Special Congratulations to Caroline and Paul Allams on the birth of their baby boy Gil. Everyone is well and Lula is already enjoying being a big sister. A wonderful welcome to Gil Allams!
Kindergarten News: Thank you to all the Reception parents who came to our Open Class evening last Thursday. It was such a wonderful opportunity for teachers to share all the great ‘whats’ and ‘hows’ of learning here at the Kindergarten with you. The teachers would like to say thank you to you all for your willing participation in the activities, the outcomes of which were shared with your delighted children the next morning.
Next Tuesday 27 September, we have the whole Kindergarten photograph. Starlight students are invited to come dressed in school uniform for the photograph and then return later in the day for their usual session.
A reminder please that our gate must not be propped or left open during the school day. If you are coming in or out during school hours, please make sure that the gate is firmly closed behind you. Your help with this is most appreciated.
As it is that time of year when coughs, sneezes and fevers begin, we have already had a number of students absent with fever related illnesses. If your child is absent due to sickness, please let us know the nature of the illness, by phoning Angel in the school office. We all have a role to play in the control of illnesses by practising good personal hygiene, including hand hygiene and as a matter of good practice in school, our students are reminded to clean their hands frequently. We ask you to encourage students to do this at home to help us prevent the spread of infectious diseases and thank you for your support with this. Jane Hendley - Head of Kindergarten
Learning to Learn Presentation: Thank you to the parents of our Secondary School students for coming along to the Learning to Learn presentation by Laura Beaumont last evening. It was also another opportunity to meet with all of our talented Secondary School staff and to meet your child’s tutor teacher. Thank to Laura and our staff for all of your assistance last night.
Secondary School Swim Team: Congratulation and very well done to our DBIS Swim Team for your first competition on Tuesday evening this week. Our team of four girls competed against six schools and distinguished themselves with a range of top three placings, including a third place in the relay. Very well done to Natasha Christensen, Cooper Murphy, Athina Zodl and Victoria Lawrence.
