Parents - Becoming Involved

We are extremely fortunate to have such a supportive parent community. Key groups within our school include our School Advisory Committee, Friends of the School organisation and our Class Parents system. Please call in, phone or email us to find out more about how you can become involved in our school.

The School Advisory Committee

The School Advisory Committee is made up of five parent representatives, the chairperson of the Friends of the School organisation, two staff representatives and the four Deputy Principals. The Principal chairs the Advisory Committee. This group meets once a month during the school year and acts as a link between parents, staff and the School Council. The Advisory Committee is able to provide advice to the School Council and the Principal on school related matters.

Friends of the School

All families are obliged to join the Friends of the School organisation. We request an annual flat fee subscription from each family to cover the cost of the development of our school telephone directory, refreshments at school event evenings, morning teas and Friends of the School stationery. We are fortunate to have a very active Friends of the School group, which not only raises funds for our school and selected charities but also organises social functions and assists in a number of other ways around the school. Our Friends of the School group is decided in January of each year.

Class Parents

Class Parents are volunteers who act as the link between the class teacher and the Friends of the School. The role of the Class Parent is to help in the organisation of Friends of the School events that require parent participation. Fulfilling this responsibility often requires working with other class parents and generating support. Teachers may also ask Class Parents for assistance from time to time. Class teachers will call for class parent volunteers early in the school year.

Alongside our class parents, we welcome the generosity, enthusiasm and support of our parent community in general who consistently give of their time to support our school in its endeavours.
