We are extremely fortunate to have such a supportive parent community. Key groups within our school include our School Advisory Committee, Friends of the School and our Class Parents system. Please call in, phone or email us to find out more about how you can become involved in our school.
The School Advisory Committee is made up of five parent volunteers, a representative of Discovery Bay City Management, one staff member and the Senior Leadership Team. The Principal chairs the Advisory Committee. This group meets once a month during the school year and acts as a link with the School Council. The Advisory Committee is able to provide advice to the School Council and the Principal on school related matters.
All families are obliged to join the Friends of the School. We request an annual flat fee subscription of $300 from each family to cover the cost of the development of our school telephone directory, refreshments at school events, morning teas and to cover the cost of our annual Year Book. Parents, as members of our Friends of the School, are requested to volunteer their assistance where possible for key events including our International Food Fair.
Class Parents are volunteers who act as the link between the class teacher and the Friends of the School. The role of the Class Parent is to help in the organisation of Friends of the School events that require parent participation. Fulfilling this responsibility often requires working with other class parents and generating support. Teachers may also ask Class Parents for assistance from time to time. Class teachers will call for class parent volunteers early in the school year.
Alongside our class parents, we welcome the generosity, enthusiasm and support of our parent community in general who consistently give of their time to support our school in its endeavours.
