A week in the life of DBIS
The events of the last two weeks of school have been an outstanding crescendo to a wonderful year at DBIS.
Highlights have included Creative Arts Week, Year 11 and Year 6 Graduation Dinners, Primary and Secondary Awards Ceremonies and Onwards and Upwards celebrations in Early Years and Primary. Today’s Primary farewell assembly and tomorrow’s Year 6 Graduation Ceremony also promise to be equally special occasions. Link to Primary Award winners HERE and Secondary Award winners HERE.
Additionally, at the end of the school’s memorable 35th year, a year in which we bare witness to the significance of the Geoffrey Chaucer’s words - “from small acorns grow mighty oaks”, the school community can take pride in the many individual and collective achievements. I continue to be humbled by, and in awe of, the community’s clear strengths. In particular, the excellent school spirit and positive culture that thrives amongst the student body, the role modeling and professionalism inherent in our staff and the substantial investment in time and energy made by our parents in the ongoing success of the School.
Above all, this year has been hugely successful because of the commitment shown by our students to the curricular and co-curricular life of the school. DBIS students demonstrate on a daily basis that they deserve the very best that the school community can provide. Please be assured that the School will continue to inspire and empower our students through our holistic approach to teaching and learning. We remain committed to the pursuit of excellence, fostering well-being and resilience, developing healthy and respectful relationships, serving others with integrity and dignity and working collaboratively to strengthen our community even further.
I would also like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the students who are leaving us tomorrow. I hope they all remember that DBIS is family and that all who are leaving will always be welcomed back with open arms at DBIS. Thank you to them for their outstanding contributions to the life of the School and best wishes for the future.
I also count myself very fortunate and privileged to work with such a dedicated team at DBIS. It is important therefore for me to acknowledge the staff members leaving DBIS this summer. As exemplified by Mrs Ketu Patel, who is leaving DBIS after 30 years of service to the teaching profession and the school community, DBIS educators go to great lengths to support, mentor and care for your students. During their time at the School, they have worked tirelessly to help students achieve their best. I pay tribute to them all and commend their dedication and professionalism. They all leave with our very best wishes for the future. Link to leaving staff HERE.
Thank you also to all our parents for your continued support and co-operation and for being engaged and interested in your children’s education. The triangle of mutual support between the students, the School and parents, is crucial and one which we value very much indeed.
Finally, a reminder that school starts for new students on Tuesday, August 14 and all other students on Wednesday, August 15th. I wish you all an enjoyable and restful Summer break and look forward to seeing you all, and greeting our new students, in August.
