What's Been Happening in Year 1
We have had a wonderful time in Year 1 and particularly enjoyed our Sports Week.
We had a chance to experience a range of different sports from all around the world and then competed in teams during our sports morning. We loved the team work and the variety of different activities. The teachers were really impressed with everyones great attitude and team spirit, well done Year 1.
In our maths lessons we have been searching for shapes in and around school. We’ve made shape pictures, worked hard to name the shapes correctly and have learnt some new vocabulary to describe them. I wonder how many shapes you can find in your home or when you are out and about with your families.
Last week also saw us visiting all the different teachers in Year 1 to learn some new art skills. We learnt how to sponge paint, collage, finger paint, print with bubble wrap, use water colours, shade and cut. We were then given the opportunity to create our own habitats using the new skills we have learnt. We had so much fun and really enjoyed being creative. We also drew our animals to add to our habitats.
In writing we used our homework to help us create our Non-chronological reports about our animals and are looking forward to starting out green screen videos next week. We will be using our presenters voice and will be able to share our learning with everyone very soon.
We were given our scripts last week and will start rehearsals shortly. We can not wait to start acting and singing and getting into the Christmas spirit. Keep learning your lines at home.
Have a great week everyone.
