What's Been Happening in Year 2
We have had another busy couple of weeks in Year 2!
Last week, we had our Sports Morning. The children all thoroughly enjoyed the morning and displayed great sportsmanship.
In class we have been continuing our ‘The Times are Changing’ Discovery Unit and have been investigating the historical aspect. We have been looking at different types of sources and evidence and thinking about how they can give us information about the past. We have also been considering our perspectives on the types of evidence and thinking about which we feel are most and least useful.
In Writing, we have been starting our first narrative unit of the year. We have written a cold write story about a bear who wants to find a new home. We are now starting to investigate our model text ‘Welcome Home Bear’ and are looking at how the story is structured. We have also started hunting for Writing Secrets that the author has used.
In Reading, we have been continuing with our class story ‘Home from Home.’ We have been using our inference skills to investigate what we know about Sam. Sam even came to visit us last week and we got to ask him questions about his new life in Hong Kong!
In Maths, we have started to learn about Hong Kong money. We are learning to use Hong Kong dollars to make different amounts.
