What's Been Happening in Year 2
Yet again another fabulous but busy couple of weeks in Year 2.
Y2RH performed brilliantly in their assembly on Friday and Y2HR and Y2ES are looking forward to their turn in the next few weeks. Y2KW will have to wait until after Christmas for their turn! We are all looking forward to our theatre trip next week when we go to see professional actors perform Father Christmas and this will get us all in the mood for the final few weeks of term. Please check out the Parent Portal as there are dates listed there for the busy last few weeks of this year.
In English the children have been busy working up to writing their own narratives after learning our class text ‘Welcome Home Bear’. They have been learning about punctuation and also how to write a ‘Super Setting Sentence’ to start their story.
In Maths they have been busy shopping and using money in real life situations. They will be moving onto measuring later this week and then start work on multiplication. They are doing really well learning their times tables and it would be great if you could continue to practise this with your child at home.
Our ‘Times are changing’ unit will shortly be coming to an end and we will be starting our ‘Live and Let Live’ unit. The children are completing this unit by looking at the work of several artists and discussing the concept of perspective.
