What's Been Happening in Year 6
Since returning from camp, learning in Year 6 has certainly been full of impact.
The students had a wonderfully productive week preparing for their very memorable Discovery Celebration of Learning. Following an exploration of the genre of Biographies in their English learning, the students had the opportunity to carry out a personalized enquiry into a chosen Migrant or Migration Story during their Discovery learning. This required the transfer of writing and reading skills along with key research, self management, thinking and communication skills to develop a biography. The students then enjoyed the challenge of turning their biography into an autobiography and preparing it as a speech, which was given whilst in the role of the migrant at the Wax Work Museum that formed the Celebration of Learning. It was wonderful to see so many of our parents at this showcase of learning and it was a superb opportunity for the students to interact and develop their public speaking skills.
The classrooms were certainly buzzing afterwards with the sharing of the full Discovery learning journey on their Seesaw Digital learning portfolios. A fantastic opportunity to reflect and celebrate a truly inspiring unit of enquiry that will continue to have a big impact following its conclusion.
