A WARM WELCOME & AN UPDATE FROM OUR PREFECT TEAM
Dear DBIS Alumni,
Since December's Christmas Concert on the Pitch, our Sixth Form Prefects have been hard at work leading school initiatives and supporting various aspects of school life. The biggest event we've arranged to date took place just last week – the first-ever DBIS runathon! Next on the calendar is Book Week in April and STEAM Day in June.
If you would like to organise a class reunion or visit and speak with current students about life after DBIS, please let us know. Your experiences and insights can be invaluable to our current students, particularly our Sixth Formers as they plan their paths beyond school.
Thank you for your continued interest in our community. We look forward to hearing from you and strengthening our alumni network together.
Jo Everson (Year 12 Prefect)

WELCOME TO THE FIRST DBIS ALUMNI NEWSLETTER!
It is a great pleasure to introduce our inaugural alumni newsletter, a celebration of the remarkable journeys you, our former students, have undertaken since leaving DBIS. This newsletter aims to reconnect our alumni with the school that played a pivotal role in their growth and development.
Through this platform, we hope to share inspiring stories, highlight achievements, and foster a sense of community among our alumni. We believe that the connections formed here at DBIS last a lifetime, and it is our privilege to keep these bonds strong and growing.
We look forward to hearing from you and celebrating your successes as part of the DBIS family.
Best wishes,

AN UPDATE FROM OUR HEAD OF SIXTH FORM
Term 1 2025–26 in the Sixth Form has been incredibly busy. This year has seen our biggest ever cohort at our DB North Plaza Campus, with over 70 students across Years 12 and 13. Celebrating our superb results this summer, with 38% of our class of 2025 receiving an A* – A grade, we began the year by congratulating alumna Dexin Ouyang, who achieved the highest mark in Hong Kong for A Level Psychology.
Our Year 12 induction programme involved a BBQ, beach games, wellbeing workshops and a house activity that brought our Year 12 and Year 7 students together for an exciting afternoon of team-building games. Our new common room has also been a hive of activity, featuring a new open kitchen and dining space for students to relax in during break times.
At the end of November, Year 13 student Eleni Daniels delivered assemblies to every year group in the Secondary School to share her experience in Turkey over the summer, working with the NGO Help4Refugees. We hope this will encourage many more of our students to participate in voluntary work as part of our ongoing commitment to community outreach and service.
This week, with the holidays just around the corner, our Sixth Form Secret Santa event and shared lunch made a welcome return – much fun was had by all!
We have also enjoyed welcoming former students to campus when they have returned to Hong Kong for visits – it is always lovely to catch up with our alumni. Please keep in touch via the alumni email address (alumni@dbis.edu.hk). We are eager to share more spotlight stories in upcoming newsletters and to host visits to our campus for alumni to offer university or careers advice. If you are interested, please get in touch.
Finally, we would like to hear from any students from the graduating class of 2019 (Sixth Form) so we can organise our first Sixth Form reunion.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Christmas, and we are looking forward to hearing from you!

A MESSAGE FROM OUR HEAD PREFECTS
As our journey as Head Prefects of 2024–25 comes to an end, I think we speak for the entire year group that we are so grateful for our years at DBIS. Reflecting on the unforgettable experiences we've shared, we are reminded of the laughter, the challenges and the countless moments that have drawn us closer together. This final term in particular has been filled with profound connections, truly uniting our community.
The standout event of 2025 was the Runathon, where we united as a school to raise HK$221,528 for our house charities. This sum not only showcases the generosity of our students, staff and families but also their attributes as representatives of DBIS’s core values. When students were asked why they were running, they responded with ‘for the kids’ rather than ‘for our house to win’, highlighting their commitment to making a difference in the world. The energy during Runathon week was palpable as students of all ages ran together, cheered each other on, made memories and contributed to a worthy cause. On the Friday, our Prefect team ran for the entire school day, accompanied by younger students along the way, further strengthening the bond between the eldest and youngest individuals in our school.
The community also came together for a series of wellbeing events focused on mental health and wellness, providing students with valuable resources and support, creating a safe space for open discussions about mental health, and fostering an environment of care and understanding.
As we prepare to leave DBIS, we cannot help but reflect on what we will miss the most. The sense of community here is unmatched. We will particularly miss our end-of-term assemblies, where the entire Secondary School comes together as one. Seeing the smiles on younger students' faces as they looked up to us Sixth Formers filled us with pride and purpose. We hope that we have inspired them, just as they have inspired us with their enthusiasm and energy.
Of course, there were challenges along the way, whether it be late-night study sessions, stressful exams or the inevitable ups and downs of school life. These experiences shaped us, teaching us resilience and the importance of perseverance.
As we look forward to joining the DBIS alumni community, we do so with excitement and anticipation. We are proud to be part of a legacy that values community, compassion and excellence. We carry with us the lessons learned and the memories made, ready to contribute positively to the world beyond these walls.
In closing, we thank each and every member of the DBIS community for making this term unforgettable. We leave with our hearts full, knowing that while we may be moving on, we will always be part of the DBIS family.
